The Sustainable Materials Revolution Is Here.
New York City, July 2025. Gotham Foundry, the first-ever innovation hub for sustainable materials, officially opened its doors. Spanning Columbia University, FIT, CUNY-ASRC, and the biolab Genspace, Gotham Foundry was set to introduce itself to the world at NYC's Climate Week in September. A catalyst for propelling student innovators, early-stage entrepreneurs, deep-tech companies, and the City's green economy, Gotham Foundry harnesses nature's bio-generative processes to recreate how everyday products, such as textiles, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, and more, are made. For the record, harnessing nature's bio-generative processes means using mushrooms to create leather and high-density construction materials or utilizing microbes to produce highly colorful, sustainable fabrics. Or how bio-fabricated human tissue scaffolds can create therapeutic medicine. Absolutely revolutionary, Gotham Foundry had little time, know-how, or expertise to create its brand. They needed a partner who could not only distill and define their purpose, mission, and vision, but also create their identity, logo, build a style guide, develop a website, write their narrative, create messaging, as well as social media posts and assets for Climate Week. Gotham Foundry turned to Starfish to lead, develop, and launch their brand in roughly a month.
Gotham Foundry is a world-changing destination for visionary student creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs ready to start the sustainable future revolution.
Gotham Foundry is greater than a revolutionary consortium of leading academic institutions with facilities, powerful strategic networks, and connections to the science community. It is, in reality, an open-source, open-door hub for students, innovators, companies, and industry that will power the future of New York. With that articulation, we defined the brand.
